The Pirates in Kidderminster

The Byrne Black Belt Academy, has a tournament squad named The Pirates. The Pirates are the Southwest's most successful team, brushing aside anyone who stands before them. This is all down to Master Ed Byrne's vast knowledge of tournament techniques The Pirates was set up by it's founder Ed Byrne in 1990,Ed thought name "Pirate" was appropiate as the name Pirate is synonomous with the south west and Ed and the Pirates always take the silver ware at tournaments. The Pirates train separatly to the Byrne Black Belt Academy. They hold squad training sessions on a weekly basis. Master Ed Byrne is known as the father of Sport Karate in the southwest,He introduced it after many discussions with multi World Champ Kevin Brewerton.Ed and the Pirate Sport Karate team have won 400 tournaments outright. The Pirates are always looking for new members for their squad and demo team! why not have a go! Ed can make you the best you can be,It's been proven.

Kyle Silgram had a great day winning the Boys points and the Kata,he also gained Silver in the Continuous. Christopher Wilkinson had a tough final against the British Champion and lost out to the more experienced competitor. The brothers Gregory had a great day with Nate and Dan winning titles, while Kyle came away with a Silver.

Kyle on his way to another Englsih Title
Brad Byrne was up against Lewis Maunder,Lewis has said he would revenge the defeat,That Brad had given him at the Battle of the Celts,Brad was having having none of it and beat Lewis by more than their last meeting,Brad was up against the No1.WSBB 145cm fighter Josh Swadkins,Josh didn't find second gear.Brad dominated from the first bell, totally outclassing opponent with the final score being 4 points to 14 to the New English Champ Brad Byrne.

British Full Contact Champion Martyn Hall connects with a side kick
The Battle of the Celts full contact Champ- Martyn Hall was next to fight for the UMAN Pro rules full contact title,The first 2 rounds saw Martyn being the dominant fighter, but lack of stamina, saw Martyn just lose out in the 3rd round(Master Ed Has upped the stamina training as we speak for future bouts)I had to feel sorry for Grant and Richie who as complete novices were unevenly matched aginst much more advanced opponents, but never the less had a great learning curve and still came back with a silver each.
