Team Byrne
Byrne Black Belt Academy's own super team.
The Byrne Black Belt Academy has a tournament squad named Team Byrne. Team Byrne are the Southwests most successful team, brushing aside anyone who stands before them. This is all down to Master Ed Byrne's vast knowledge of tournament techniques.
Team Byrne was formerly know as The Pirates,which was set up by its founder Ed Byrne in 1990. Ed thought name "Pirate" was appropriate as the name Pirate is synonomous with the South West and Ed and Team Byrne always take the silver ware at tournaments,Master Ed decided to change the team's name because the Byrne Black Belt Academy name is so strong in the Martial art's circle.The Team is that strong that Instructors from other Martial Arts schools have joined the Team.
Team Byrne train separately to the Byrne Black Belt Academy. They hold squad training sessions on a weekly basis.
Master Ed Byrne is known as the father of Sport Karate in the southwest. He introduced it after many discussions with multi World Champ Kevin Brewerton. Ed and Team Byrne Sport Karate team have won 400 tournaments outright.
